For more than 30 years, Promac Tools has proudly represented Tormek in Australia, building one of our longest-standing brand partnerships.
Our relationship with the iconic Swedish sharpening brand began when Promac became Tormek's Australian distributor. At the time, Tormek was still establishing its presence locally, and over the decades we've worked closely with the Tormek team to grow the brand and support an extensive network of specialist dealers across Australia.
Today, that experience means our team offers much more than access to Tormek products. We provide decades of product knowledge, training, spare parts and local support for Tormek customers and dealers throughout Australia.
The Tormek Story
Tormek's story began in Sweden in the 1970s with Torgny Jansson, a mechanical design engineer and passionate woodworker who was frustrated by the sharpening solutions available at the time.
His pursuit of a better way to sharpen edge tools led to the development of a modern water-cooled sharpening system and, in 1973, the founding of Tormek AB.
From an early model powered by an electric hand drill to the introduction of a self-powered machine in 1981, Tormek continued to refine its sharpening system. What began as one man's solution to a workshop problem would ultimately develop into a sharpening system used by professionals and enthusiasts around the world. More on The Tormek Story here.
