The XB-100 Horizontal Base allows you to sharpen with the rotation of the grinding wheel running away from the edge (edge trailing) instead of into the edge (edge leading). The XB-100 Horizontal Base was supplied as standard on all Tormek S-2000 and S-1200 machines after 8 August 2001. If you have an older machine, you can upgrade it with a horizontal base.
XB-100 Horizontal Base
Why XB-100 Horizontal Base?
- Horizontal precision mounts for older Tormek machines.
- Allows horizontal sharpening where the grinding wheel rotates away from the edge instead of into it.
- Allows honing with jigs on the universal support for maximum precision.
- Fits the Tormek 2000, Tormek 1200 and older machines from before 8 August 2001.
Sharpening with edge trailing
The XB-100 Horizontal Base allows you to sharpen your tools with the grinding wheel rotating away from the edge (edge trailing) instead of into the edge (edge leading). This is a great advantage when sharpening woodturning gouges using the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig, for example. That’s because sharpening edge leading with the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig risks causing the blade to catch on the grinding wheel.
